Mayor

Cole's phone rings

Cole jolts awake as he answers his phone, "Cole Genesone speaking, how may I help you?"

The voice is clear and authoritative, "This is the police chief of Tout's Town. I was told you could offer a deal regarding our equipment."

Cole sits up straight as he nods, "That is correct, what kind of equipment were you looking for? I'm sure we could get something worked out for you."

"Tout's Town has had the worst crime rates in all of Wickheck for some time now. Everytime we are given access to low tier equipment the community is able to take that equipment from our officers without fail. This has resulted in less and less funding from the mayor of the town. I ask that any deal made only be high quality equipment to ensure the future of the town. So we can't get much but what we do get must be up to standard."

Cole nods, "I will make sure you get the highest grade equipment possible, were you looking for service weapons? Less-lethal options? Vehicles?"

"We are going to start with vehicles first and work our way up to weapons. We want higher security and safety of our supplies before adding higher quality of weapons into the mix."

Cole seems to think for a second, "Got it, so we are looking for armored doors, reinforced glass, and hidden compartments?"

"Exactly."

Cole nods, "Right so we have a couple options here, SUVs, pursuit vehicles, and SWAT bearcats but I'm gonna guess we wanna work on the SWAT vehicles at a different time."

"We would like to start with SUVs. Those would be the least of our worries if they got stolen."

Cole thinks for a second then responds, "Right, and how many were you looking to get? There's a discount if you buy them in bulk."

"At the moment we can only afford 4."

There's electronic crackling for several seconds before Cole responds, "Your SUVs will be there once we receive payment, and if you wouldn't mind could I speak to your mayor?"

There's a light scoff from the police chief, "Knock yourself out..." Cole receives a text with the mayor's number.

Cole saves the number as he quickly remarks, "Thank you for doing business with us, I look forward to supplying you further." Cole hangs up then calls the Mayor's number.

The phone is left on the ring for only a nano second before someone picks up.

Cole starts speaking, "Hello this is-"

"No," They hang up.

Cole stares at his phone as he calls again as he mutters, "Asshole."

"I already said no... fuck off." Their words are slurred and tired.

Cole takes a deep breath, "I'm Cole Genesone, I run a company that supplies high grade equipment and i was calling because your police chief can barely afford 4 SUVs" There's electronic crackling as he waits for the response.

There's a pause, "...Wait. Fuckin- Cole? Like Cole with the gas mask?"

Cole responds, "That's not the poin- wait how do you know who I am..." The crackling stops.

Their voice is very familiar and drunk, "Pfff- uhhh- ya know. We went out to the movies that one time..."

Cole blinks several times, "Yeah and I called you kissable, have you been drinking?"

Chester clears his throat and attempts to sound sober, "...No?"

Cole sighs and shakes his head, "You sound like you've been drinking, that doesn't make you any less kissable though" Cole pauses, "But...you...you're a mayor?"

"Kind of yeah. So I guess I have your number now."

Cole sounds confused, "Kind of? What do you mean kind of?"

"I mean I am a mayor of a town but I'd hardly call it a town at this rate."

Cole sighs, "Well it'll be even less of a town if you don't fund the police so I can give them better equipment."

"That's why they gave you my number!....uhh no."

Cole shakes his head, "Chester please, do you want crime to continue to run rampant?"

"At the moment, yes! That's just how this town runs."

Cole sighs, "Look, if you allow crime to run rampant people the town won't produce anymore money and then you won't be mayor of anything."

"Huh. How does funding them give me more money? Cause from what I'm seeing im getting more cash slapping funding on all the bars."

"It'll give you more money because people will be more willing to go to the bars because they feel safer," Cole hopes he's getting through to Chester.

"...ohhh. That does make more sense."

Cole nods, "Uh huh and maybe you should do a little less drinking on the job, please?"

Chester grumbles, "I'll try."

Cole smiles, "Thank you, now I'm very curious on how you became mayor."

"Oh right that. It's a weird bit of events. I was drinking and stuff cuz of... ya know, and there was a group of loons that didn't like Cherrywood but also liked drinking. So they had me delivering them drinks from Cherrywood using the mail truck. Then delivering supplies to start small wineries and what not. From there things just grew and they decided to make it a town. They decided to call me the mayor cuz I made it all possible doing all that driving back and forth."

Cole is quiet for several seconds. "Goodness gracious... anyways would you wanna go hangout sometime? I actually have some money so we could go out and eat if you want."

"Yeah that sounds great. I'd love to get some drinks."

Cole sighs, "Not drinks, food like a restaurant or something."

"Oh right, yeah. Yeah. Maybe this weekend. Got a lot of jobs to juggle."

Cole nods as he smiles, "Great, i guess i'll see you this weekend then."

"Bye bye!" Chester hangs up.

Cole sighs and puts his phone in his pocket.
